Our team

People with a shared passion for training, bicycles and community building.

Feeling like you know our team is just as important as knowing our aims.

These people work every day to deliver to training and develop the projects that our members are interested in being successful and delivering change.

Here's a brief introduction to our team:

Dan Harris
Executive Director

A driving force behind the growth of both Oxford Cycle Workshop and Oxford's cycling social scene over the last three years. Dan brings important relationships with the co-operative movement and the cycle industry, as well as experience in community engagement and business management to Oxford Cycle Workshop Training. A passionate spokesman for co-operation, cycling and community empowerment. Dan is also the creative mind behind Oxford's Alleycats, Bike Bell Orchestra and annual cycle festival.

Steven Garner
Bike Renovation & Workshop Access Coordinator

As an apprentice for Oxford Cycle Workshop in 2010 Steven received training and mentoring from our training organisation. In addition to his mechanical aptitude it was Steven's ability to sensitively support and communicate with our members that really stood out. At the end of his apprenticeship we had the pleasure of offering him a full time position coordinating our workshop access sessions and renovating our bikes for recycling. In addition to his roles Steven makes valuable contributions to the Oxford Bike Polo scene and regularly contributes to our events.

Jared Spier

An experienced road safety specialist, Jared is responsible for the design and delivery of Oxford Cycle Workshop Training's Freewheeling Project. Cycling knowledge gained through years of riding, ranging from international competiton through to winter commutes at -50 degrees centigrade, and ten years of coaching amateur cyclists give a sensation that he's seen it all, but the wisdom that each day can present new challenges. Having found Oxfordshire ideal for his preferred style of riding, Jared looks forward to being a part of the Oxford cycling scene.

Investing in people

As a small community owned co-operative we are conscious that out team should reflect the direction and drive of our organisation's aims.

Our passion for developing new skills and empowering the community we work with doesn't exclude the people we work with. We are passionate about the time our team spend with us being used to develop new skills that will allow them to really grow as individuals, whilst also building our organisation and community stronger. All our staff are CRB checked and are actively engaged in a programme of personal development.

Opportunities

Oxford Cycle Workshop Training is one organisation in a family of three focused on serving the community here in Oxford.

Oxford Cycle Workshop is our partner bike shop and bike recycling project located in Magdalen Road. They renovate and sell around 1000 of Oxfordshires bicycles destined for landfill every year.

Cycle Oxford is a cycle club with a vision for promoting a cycling Oxford. Passionate about creating events, rides and activities to encourage the people of Oxford to enjoy new cycling adventures in our cycling city.

All three organisations have opportunities ranging from voluntary work through to full time positions. If you would like to know more about specific opportunities please email dan@ocwt.coop
